An intimate, elegant and comfortable hotel on the water. The Sumahan, although recently inaugurated, owes its namesake and part of its charm to a past which began in 1875. A five star hotel since May 2005, the Sumahan is situated in an a former distillery which made raki, one the Ottomans' favourite liquors. Its name comes from "suma", which in Turkish means "liquor".

In actuality, the Sumahan is a contrast of historic and modern elements, a boutique hotel with 18 rooms, in which the spirit of Istanbul dwells. The purity of their conception and the careful selection of wood, bricks, marble, steel, cloths and linen convert each accommodation into standards of contemporary design.
A symbol of Turkish hospitality, reflected in the personnel of Kordon, the hotel's a la carte restaurant, and the hotel's cafe-bar, which has a spectacular terrace on the shores of the sea.
Furthermore, the Sumahan also disposes of wellness centre which has a gym and a Turkish bath, and also provides a massage service.

The Sumahan is just outside Çengelköy, a part of the city that preserves an air of an authentic Bosporus neighbourhood, where wooden houses an restaurants specialising in seafood coexist. The hotel also facilitates crossing the Bosporus strait: at your disposal is a launch which will transfer you to Kabatas in less than 15 minutes, where you will find an infinity of transport options to take you to the sights of that part of the city. Also, a ferry service is available from Çengelköy. If you prefer the land route, the Sumahan benefits from quick connections to the Bosporus bridges, as well as the shopping districts on both sides of the city.
